Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA)
Head start in Mecosta and Osceola Counties along with the Great Start School Readiness (GSRP) Programs in Big Rapids, Reed City, Evart, Chippewa Hills, Leroy, Luther and Marion will hold joint recruitment and enrollment activities for their preschool programs starting in March and continuing throughout the summer and school year.
Children ages 3-4 are encouraged to apply. Some 5 year olds may be accepted into Head Start. These programs are offered at no cost for families that qualify. Limited transportation may be available for some programs.
The basic goal of these programs is to encourage well-rounded development this is accomplished through teaching healthy, language, self-help, socialization, large and small muscle, and cognitive thinking skills. Teachers community professionals, coordinating staff and parents work together to meet this goal through center and home-based program options.
